Sugar Plum has been available in Australia for many years. PlantNet® now makes it available as a dwarf variety of plum.

It has small-elongated oval fruit with deep red skin and very sweet juicy yellow flesh.

It is a freestone plum. Fruit harvests in late February. It is partially self-fertile but benefits from pollination by Damson Plum.

Trees will require staking support when young due to prolific fruiting.

Used for fresh fruit, drying and jam. An upright spreading tree producing heavy crops. 

Uses

• Ideal for growing in pots or tubs on the patio or great for small sized gardens.
• Ideal for teaching kids how to look after their own fruit tree. 

Prepare the soil well before planting by adding compost or composted manures.
Test soil pH.
Ensure soil is wet before planting, remove plant from pot.
Do not apply fertiliser to the hole at time of planting.
Water in after planting.
When planting in large pots use a premium potting mix with added slow release fertiliser.
